MIXTAPE: Andyna Vol. 4

♫ HIP HOP ♫

I cannot imagine if I had to work anything unrelated to music. The routines of checking out new hit list, designing a concert, or even just picking up a good backsound for editing. I am so into it. But when people ask me what kind of music I really love the most? Then it will always be HIP HOP. The way they communicate complex messages in an unbelievable rhyming, that is irresistible. Hands in the air, Blog Walkers!

1. Too Phat feat. Warren G – “Just A Lil’ Bit”

Rap, DJ, breakdance, and street gravity. I adore how these Hip Hop elements framed beautifully in one song. This join forces between Kuala Lumpur and California rappers always bring positivity in me.

Fave Part: Assalammuaikum / from the General // Warren G’zee for shizoo / and that’s the way love go //

2. Kendrick Lamar – “Alright”

Nope. Lemme tell ya sum, this ain’t just a dope track. This is a huge movement anthem. Jazz saxophone blended into delicate storytelling-rap about society. What a vibrant of art!

Fave Part: I rap / I’m black / on track and rest assured // My rights / my wrongs I write till I’m right with God //

3. Lauryn Hill – “Doo Wop (That Thing)”

Treat yourself to this 1999 Grammy Awards winner. In that era, Lauryn Hill proved a female rapper could use her brains to have chart-topper rather than her botox body.

Fave Part: How you gon’ win when you ain’t right within? //

4. Eminem – “Sing For The Moment”

Combination of Aerosmith’s legendary melody and Eminem’s fascinating verse. Seriously, why wouldn’t I put him on the list? He’s a RAP GOD, for history sake! I know it seems so daydreaming, but attending Eminem’s concert is def the definition of bucket list.

Fave Part: His house is a broken home / there’s no control / he just let’s his emotions go //

5. Iwa K – “Bebas”

Throwback to what I call the biggest masterpiece of Indonesia Hip Hop have ever received. I was only 6 years old when this song came out. But it has resound in my head until now. Please, do play me this kinda cool beat if one day (shit this is hard!) I have to leave the earth. Here is my redemption song.

Fave Part: Sejak kehadiranmu bumi / uh / uh / terkekeh riang // Dadaku berdentam // Dididididam dididum dagadagadaga digidum digidum //
